The Newtraid Vision
Newtraid arose from the need to provide advice and support to organisations and individuals who cannot afford commercial consultancy but whose development would be beneficial to their local community
History
As a result of various contacts with businesses and individuals the founders of Newtraid© received numerous enquiries for information, technical and managerial assistance.
Requests included:-
- Marketing opportunities in the European Union for products ranging from charcoal to vodka.
- Assistance with preparation of business plans for small scale manufacturing and supply of screw and bolt making machinery.
- Supply of complete flour mill and review of methods for improving grain storage.
- Supply of equipment for manufacture of electronic boards using surface mount technology.
- Complete plant for food processing including margarine and yoghurt manufacture.
- Specification and procurement of refurbished pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.
- Supply of municipal waste recycling technology.
- Supply of pharmaceutical products and study of joint venture to manufacture pharmaceuticals on an existing site.
- Supply of refurbished medical equipment.
With such a range it is difficult for a small team or an individual to respond adequately and individual consultants will frequently require support in areas outside their particular speciality.
An additional problem with most of these projects was that they were not large enough to interest a consultant, supplier or contractor looking for a commercial return on their work.
The Idea
What is needed is an easily available source of expertise in various fields which can be called upon by the client to provide information and experience throughout the life of a project or at difficult stages in the development of an organisation.
An increasing numbers of organisations have access to e-mail and the web, and carrying through much of the consultancy using these technologies is a possibility.
Contacts made with volunteers over the internet can result in the development of valuable "virtual" teams.
The Result Out of these events and ideas the concept of "Newtraid©" was developed. The name hopefully symbolises the intent of the founders - it's New and combines Trade with Aid.
The Vision
- Gather a group of skilled and experienced volunteer consultants who would freely give their knowledge and time to worthwhile causes and projects.
- Provide support to any individual or organisation who has ideas that will benefit their local community and cannot afford commercial consultancy
- Provide an on-line meeting place where Consultants can meet potential clients and share their knowledge, skills and experience.
