GCI appoints new Environmental Education Programme Director

Peace Nobel Laureates Forum: GCI mainstreams environmental issues

The 9th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates that took place in Paris(11-13 December 2008), titled "Human rights and a World withoutviolence," aimed at raising awareness about the threat violence,poverty and a lack of resources have on basic human rights and onensuring a peaceful future for the world. The Forum closed with a FinalDeclaration on the "state of human rights and the prospects for a worldwithout violence." Green Cross International, who held a successfulpanel session on "Water as a Human Right" on 11th December, was a majorcontributor to the Final Declaration, highlighting the environmentalcomponent in the process of buidling peace and achieving human rights.

Al Gore Receives Honorary Doctorate from Poznan University

Al Gore called for more concerted action to save the planet yesterday as he addressed the audience at the University of Poznan, after receiving an honorary doctorate from the University during a side event to the 14th climate change conference taking place in the Polish city.
